It is officially the beginning of the summer.
Campers are on-site at camp and all is well – already a staff trip to the hospital – head on head collision worthy of comedy video – ends in broken nose.
It is at this point in my summer that, if I have done my job as a camp director, that it gets easier. If I have trained my staff well, then it is all set. Some summers go that way, some don’t. I do find that it is now that I can relax and have fun at camp while keeping my eye on the little details that will make camp amazing for the campers.
It really helps to have an amazing staff. It really helps to give those staff all the skills and training that we can, it is never enough, but it will have to be…camp has started.
