As we move closer to the beginning of the summer I am in a pretty calm state. This is based on years of being a camp director, but also on the adoption of the Getting Things Done methodology of managing my to-do’s and planning my days.
The mind like water concept is essentially the idea that we are ready to react to things exactly as we should – not overreact, not under-react – but to do the exact same thing that we should. As a pebble falls into the water the water reacts and then goes back to being what it should.
As Camp Directors this is the example that we should strive to do for our summer camp staff and our full time staff. As staff see you reacting like you should – not over, not under – but just right, then they will learn from this and grow.
