Before I left I built some foam rockets out of Make Magazine #29.
These will work perfect with our rocket launchers that we have at camp from It’s A Blast. The foam rockets will certainly last longer than the construction paper and foam tip rockets we use the majority of the time. These foam rockets I built are too expensive to build for every camper – but one per cabin for competition is a possibility.
This shows all the materials – notice that I have foam fins as well as I used Sugru to make fins on one of them as a test. Too expensive to do on all the rockets – but holds a bit better than the hot glue on the foam fins.
This shows the nose cone – made by taking a zip tie and tightening it to form an air tight seal.
