Day 3 – Camp Director Check In

Here we are – Day 3 of the summer.

Trying to get this post done earlier than yesterdays 11:59pm posting.

We are doing staff training and CIT training this week at camp.  It is going great – the weather is amazing.

The staff we have, once again, looks amazing – 35 staff members & 15 CIT candidates.  Over the years I have realized that this week is the most important week for us as Camp Directors.  If we train our staff and give them the full skill set that they need – the rest of the summer becomes about offering amazing programs and preventing any issues – rather than moving from crisis to crisis.  Staff training – in skills, in camp culture, in how to be an amazing camp counsellor/person – can make or break your summer, the camps summer and the campers summer.

I love working with staff – seeing them grow during our 10 days of training over the spring and early summer.  Knowing that these counsellors will affect the lives of campers in a positive way.

Ropes course repairs happening today.  Reach for the Rainbow training is going on as I type.

Life is good…camp is better…
