Started as a rainy day this morning and ended up being a beautiful afternoon. It poured rain just to the north of our camp, but not here, in the afternoon.
Took our son out of camp tonight for soccer – it is play-offs and the team only had 1 sub to begin with. It allowed me some time to chat with him on the drive to soccer. Here is a story that he told me:
What I love most about camp so far is my Choose Your Own Adventure – I signed up for the fort building CYOA and I love it. I like when everyone was introducing themselves and saying – “Hey! How are you? I’m so and so. Do you want to be my friend?” Older kids said they would be my friend – it was awesome! I learned some good things too. Someone taught me that it is easier to walk sideways up a muddy hill. Good advice. Someone else told me that you shouldn’t go into the mud without rubber boots. Good advice. I wonder what other advice I will get this week?
It was great as a parent to hear this story (my wife heard it the night before on a different ride to soccer). As a camp director – I hope these are the stories that our camper parents get to hear.
Priceless.
