Jr. Sports & Arts Discovery is in – poured rain for the entire two hours of in take – but everyone did awesome.
This is our first week of Summer Camp this year being held at our East Camp facility. Pearce Williams is laid out with two distinct sites – what we call West Camp and East Camp.
West Camp is what many would call our traditional camp facility – it is the original camp where campers started staying in 1960. It has a dining hall, three cabin buildings (sleeping 120), the Longhouse (gathering hall), bathroom building and dorms (sleep 26). West Camp also is home to our two barns, pool and our 120 year old farmhouse/office.
East Camp is a facility that started in 1980 with the creation of Pearce Hall and then when cabins were added in the late 1990’s it opened up the ability to sleep campers and groups. The two cabins sleep 48, we also bring up our covered wagons which add another 24 spots to East Camp. Pearce Hall is both our gathering hall and our dining hall with full kitchen. The George Fox Outdoor Centre is the other building which serves as a base for program and first aid. We still use the pool and Creativity Barn during our East Camp stay.
East Camp and West Camp are two very different sites – both have their own feel but the most important part of camp is the staff and our staff could run summer camp in any facility and it would still be amazing.
