Lunch In A Tree

There is a staff training activity called “Lunch In A Tree”. This was one of my most memorable staff training experiences as a counsellor.

The basic premise was the entire staff team climbs a tree and eats lunch.

Each staff member was encouraged to go as high as they felt comfortable, all staff members got into the tree. Then it was time to make sandwiches for lunch. We passed around the bread, butter, lunch meats, mayo – so not only were we in the tree, we had to be close enough to reach another staff member so that we can all help each other eat lunch.

Are all of our staff members close enough to reach each other? Are the staff close enough to help each other?

Helping is key to a successful summer.
