So I’m sitting in a hotel room, thinking about my presentation for later today and here are some thoughts:
– I really want to get the discussion and ideas flowing about the future – not the now and not the problems we have now. I’ll do a brief (10 min) intro to how the session came to be, but I want solutions, not rehashing of the challenges.
– I really don’t want to worry about the limitations – dream no small dream – we will worry about how to get ideas implemented after we have the ideas – right now we don’t have the ideas yet.
As I planned for the presentation I realized that my laptop (ubuntu linux) does not yet work with a projector so I’m off the white/black board today – with lots of interactive. Challenge is that I don’t know how many people are coming to the conference or will be at the session.
Questions for discussion during the session:
– What area’s of the summer camp experience can be3 shifted toward more nature-based unstructured play? How can they be moved toward this?
– Could a camp be entirely unstructured? What would this look like? Is it realistic?
– Is it possible to re-invent summer camp?
I’ll update after the session.
