Got the following description from Ultimate Camp Resource.
Get everyone in a circle with one person in the middle.
The person in the middle walks around inside the circle while everyone else sings,
“Little Sally Walker walking down the street.
She didn’t know what to do so she stood in front of me. (middle person stands in front of someone)
Hey girl, do your thing do your thing and switch! (middle person does dance)
Hey girl, do your thing do your thing and switch! (other person does dance.
The new person now walks on the inside of the circle and continues the game.
This video shows the basic switch method.
At Pearce Williams we also do it as a game/song to get everyone in the middle – so instead of switching – once you are danced in front of – you come in the circle as well as the person who danced in front of you. Eventually everyone is in the circle dancing their own dance.
